Airline Profiles – Sun Country Airlines

by Matt Falcus

Sun Country Airlines is a US-based charter and holiday airline which flies Boeing 737 aircraft from its base at Minneapolis St Paul airport in Minnesota.

The airline was founded in 1983 and for a long time flew Boeing 727s, and also flew widebody Douglas DC-10s. However, these were replaced through modernisation and a number of rocky periods and changes of ownership.

Aside from its base, Sun Country also flies from other cities seasonally, with Dallas Ft Worth a focus city. Its main destinations are in the Caribbean, Mexico, and the US east and west coasts.

We’re lucky to see Sun Country 737s here at YEG… occasionally operating charters to Laughlin, NV!
