American Liveries

American Airlines is asking for people to decide whether it keeps its new livery, or adopt an alternative one which retains the classic AA logo on the tail. It has provided two example images to illustrate the idea.

You can find out more about the proposed liveries at this link.

But in slightly more interesting news, the airline, which is merging with US Airways, has announced that it is to keep the heritage liveries worn by US Airways aircraft (namely PSA, America West, Piedmont, and Allegheny) and in addition to this will introduce US Airways and TWA heritage liveries to keep the memories of these carriers alive.

TWA was one of the best known airlines in US history, and merged with American in 2001. This livery would be a real joy for the photographers out there to capture, even if it does appear on something modern such as an A320.

I believe the new logo allows for an evolution of the company and it looks more appealing too

If this is true, I’m hoping that American uses a version of the 1960s Raymond Loewy-designed livery on its TWA heritage jet.

Yes that would be nice. Can’t wait to see something emerge from the paint shop!
