Boeing 787s to be painted at Charleston

Boeing 787 DreamlinerBoeing will open a new Boeing 787 paint facility at its North Charleston base from 2016.

Construction will begin on the site in 2014, and eventually completed Boeing 787s will be painted into the colors of customer airlines. These are likely to only include aircraft built at Boeing’s South Carolina (BSC) plant.

Currently all BSC-built 787s are flown to Fort Worth, Texas, for final paint prior to delivery.
