Clarion Hotel Bergen Airport Review

by Matt Falcus

Tony Brown recently stayed at the Clarion Hotel Bergen Airport, which is the best spotting hotel choice at this Norwegian airport.

He wrote this review and provided these pictures to show what the views are like.

We had asked for an airport view and were allocated room 304 at the Clarion Hotel. This room has excellent views of the apron usually frequented by Wideroe and Norwegian, although SAS also parked up here on occasions. The airport’s other operators usually parked on the ramp at the other end of the terminal so might only be seen on arrival or departure.

Even-numbered rooms from 302 to around 320 have comparable views, as would even-numbered rooms on higher floors (there are five floors of rooms).

The hotel is spotter friendly and even if you don’t get an airport facing room there are chairs strategically placed near the lifts so you can sit and watch arrivals and see the aircraft parked on the apron outside. The staff also mention that spotters are welcome to go to the top floor (the sixth) where the gym is located, so as to get an elevated view of the ramp.

There are occasional views of the helicopters but they can often park out of sight and only be seen when on the move. There are also apron views from the bar/restaurant. Note however that this is Norway so this hotel is not cheap (approximately £230 a night).
