Good news - the local council have confirmed very detailed talks with Airport Development Partners SA (Swiss) are at an advanced stage - looking positive for the future for freight, maintenance, biz jets and private flying.

Raleigh Durham International has a great pavilion for watching airplanes take off and land, and I go there frequently with friends to watch. Very romantic spot at night too, and recommend it to anyone looking for a great date spot. It is the RDU Observation Park, and a link is below.

The freehold of the airport is owned by Coventry City Council who provided a lease to West Midlands International Airport Ltd that were operating the airport and it is this company that has gone into Liquidation.

The council have confirmed that (all being well) they wish to see the airport operating as a going concern. An announcement was expected last week (by 18/1) that a new owner/operator had been found, albeit at a lower level of commercial airfield operators licence. This seems to have stalled at the last moment but (fingers crossed) a quick resolution will be found.

It is complicated that as CCC own the airfield it actally sits within Warwick District Council for planning permission purposes and the 2 councils don't always see eye to eye.

While planning a spotting trip to DXB we found the Nojoum apartments. If you look at a map it seems to be an ideal location for spotting, bur I'm not sure about the distance to the glide path. Are there any sample pictures on the web or does anybody know the required focal length? Many thanks from LEJ

Dear Sirs
I was looking at your website to try to find out details of the times for your special ramp tours in January but I cannot access it because it says `the file is damaged and could not be repaired'.
Would you be able to tell me the times and duration of the ramp tours on Thurs.Jan 28 or Fri.Jan.29 please and how I could book a place on a tour.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Paul White

I hope that any new owners don't turn it into a housing estate or industrial estate. This is sadly what happens to many unwanted airfields now

Yet another nail in the coffin for spotters. It makes me wonder if this sort of approach will be taken at non boneyard airports. I remeber one of my friends was stopped at belfast and told that he neded to write to every airline that served the airport asking for permission to photograph/video thier aircrafts.

It just gets worse and worse.

There is no stopping on this road, with camaras along its entire length. I got the impression that if you wer on foot beyond the road, land side you would not have a problem. We had only been there 5 mins last week and the police were behind us.
