Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of their first Airbus A350-900XWB airliner on 29th June.

The aircraft, registered ET-ATQ (cn 040), flew direct from Toulouse Blagnac to Addis Ababa.

Today Ethiopian begins service with the A350 on a daily flights from Addis Ababa to both Dubai and Lagos in order for crews to gain familiarity with the new aircraft type.

Ethiopian becomes the first African operator of the A350. Altogether the airline has ordered 14 Airbus A350 XWBs.  Twelve of these are being directly ordered from Airbus, with the other two aircraft on lease from AerCap.
