Manchester Airport’s excellent Aviation Viewing Park’s entrance prices have changed. They are now:

£2 for pedestrians
£5 for cars + driver (extra cost for passengers)

This is an excellent location to view aircraft landing and taking off, the location has reasonable amenities.
Its not so good for aircraft parked on the terminals (as they cannot be seen from here due to the “v.p.” layout.)
A major gripe is that once you have paid in (at any time during your chosen day) you cannot leave and re enter free of charge again that day, even if you retain your ticket! This smacks of profit making to me!!
It can be argued that its cheap enough but is it really??

That is a fair point about re-entering…all they have to do is put the car registration on the ticket?
Also a bit naughty charging for passengers in the car, it should be a flat rate.
And finally the food…very sub standard nosh and very pricey for what it is. Its not as if we’re in the middle of nowhere!

Just why have the admission prices risen?
You still have to park on a surface that is regularly sodden, full of puddles and leaves a filthy mess all over your shoes.
There is still no covered facilty during inclement weather for any regular visitor.
The ‘NEW’ mound is poorly placed, giving Obstructed views of 05L & R approaches.
When the food facility opens, it will be a long walk from Car / Mound to it.

For the price it is very sub-standard and for any corporate event, the car parking facilities are pathetic.

Disgusted to be honest. I went after last Friday and got a shock after the £1 hike. Nothing has changed that much to warrant a quid rise, and I’m usually on my own in the car. If you have a full car it turns into an expensive few hours, and to be honest most people apart from the enthusiats only stay and hour or so. Think someone’s coining it in frankly!
Come on guys, play fair and don’t forget who you’re reliant on for sales, especially in this economic climate.

The only new thing is the shuttle bus that runs from The Station to the park every 20-minutes from 7:30am until 6pm. Brilliant. About time (although it does cost £1.50 but you should see the driver! Well worth the investment!!)

Stop moaning you lot up there and think yourselves lucky that you have somewhere to spot or take photos from……….

What’s the bus driver like then John?

What about Directions to the South Side of the runway , Surposed be a better angle from the Viewing Area ?

And how easy is it to get there bike moutnain bike from the Airport Railway Station ?
