11 Classic Pictures of New York JFK in the 1970s

by Matt Falcus

It’s time for a nostalgic look back at New York’s JFK airport during the 1970s in these classic photographs.

JFK has always been one of the major gateways to the USA and sees airlines from all over the world.

It is also a busy hub for home-grown carriers – some still with us today, and some short-lived or lost to time.

Common aircraft types at the time were the Boeing 707, 727, 737 and 747, as well as the Douglas DC-9, DC-10 and Lockheed TriStar. It was also during the 1970s that JFK began to see daily Concorde flights from London and Paris.
