Chengdu

Even-numbered rooms on the top three floors (the 10th floor is for family rooms) have good views facing the northern runway. You can’t see any aircraft parking stands or the southern runway, but should see most movements.
Shanghai Pudong

This hotel is reasonably priced and has a direct link to the terminal and train station. Rooms on higher floors facing south have views over the taxiways and runways. An SBS is useful for night movements. Rooms 8801, 8802 and 8806 are reportedly good

Located outside the original terminals A and B. Even numbered rooms on floors 3 and above face the airport which are quite distant, but take in most movements. This is probably the easiest place to spot at Shenzhen if you aren’t in the departures lounge, and hotel staff are aware of the needs of spotters.

Situated on the main entrance road leading to the terminal. Rooms facing the airport on higher floors have a good view of most movements, although you have runways on either side. It’s not possible to see the biz jet ramps from the hotel.

A tall hotel a few minutes’ walk from the airport terminal. Ask for a room facing the airport on the top three floors and you should be able to see enough over the surrounding buildings, including the southern runway threshold and nearer parking stands.
