5 Great Spotting Hotels in Brazil

by Matt Falcus

With many enthusiasts visiting Brazil’s airports to catch up on the varied mix of airliners and other aircraft that can be seen, finding a great spotting hotel can make the trip perfect.

Here are five great spotting hotels in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro Galeão

Linx Hotel

Avenida Vinte de Janeiro, s/n, Rio de Janeiro 21941-900 | +55 21 2468 3400 | www.gjphotels.com
A fairly new hotel located on the access road to the airport. Although few rooms face the airport, aircraft can be seen at a distance on approach or departure on both runways.

Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont

Ibis Santos Dumont

Ibis Santos Dumont

Ibis Hotel Santos Dumont

Av. Marechal Camara, 280 – Centro, Rio de Janeiro – RJ, 20020-080 | +55 21 3506 4500 | www.ibis.com
Views are restricted. However, odd-numbered top floor rooms facing the airport have limited views of the parking ramps and aircraft taking off.

Sao Paulo Congonhas

Ibis Hotel Congonhas

R. Baronesa de Bela Vista, 801 – Vila Congonhas, Sao Paulo 04612-002 | +55 11 5097 3737 | www.ibis.com
A good value spotting hotel at Congonhas Airport. It is situated next to the terminal, and rooms on higher floors have a great view of all movements. A lounge on the top floor can see arrivals into Guarulhos on a good day.

Sao Paulo Guarulhos

Hotel Matiz Guarulhos

R. Pedro de Tolêdo, 1000 – Jardim Santa Lidia, Guarulhos | +55 11 3411 7000 | www.matizhotelguarulhos.com
The Hotel Matiz is great for spotting, as it has a terrace which is perfect for landing shots. However, sometimes this is closed, or requires to you pay for day access if you’re not a guest. This hotel is the best option as it has great views of arrivals. Aircraft can be read off from rooms facing the airport.

Slaviero Fast Sleep Guarulhos

Aeroporto Internacional de Guarulhos, / Terminal 02 – Asa D – Cumbica | +55 11 2445 2356 | www.slavierohoteis.com.br
Part of the Slaviero Slim hotel chain, this hotel overlooks the airport. There are ten floors, so ask for a room as high as possible facing the airport runway. 915, 917 and 1015 and 1017 are good and you should be able to read everything of both at the terminal and using the runways. You can also see into the biz jet hangars.
