Aeroméxico is the largest airline in Mexico and one of the most recognizable names in Latin American aviation. Founded in 1934 as Aerovías de México, the airline has grown into a major international carrier with an extensive domestic and international route network.

It operates as Mexico’s national airline and has a long history of connecting the country with the world.

Hubs and Route Network

Aeroméxico’s main hub is at Mexico City International Airport (MEX), the busiest airport in Latin America. The airline also has key hubs at Guadalajara (GDL) and Monterrey (MTY), which support both domestic and international operations.

From these hubs, Aeroméxico flies to over 90 destinations across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. The airline has a strong presence in the United States, serving major cities like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Miami. It also operates long-haul flights to Madrid, Paris, London, and Tokyo, making it a key player in transcontinental travel from Mexico.

Aeroméxico operates a modern and diverse fleet that includes both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft. The airline primarily relies on Boeing aircraft for its mainline operations, with Embraer jets supporting its regional subsidiary, Aeroméxico Connect.

At the time of writing Aeroméxico has a fleet of 117 aircraft, with more on order.

The current fleet comprises:

  • Boeing 737-800 & 737 MAX 8/9 – Workhorses of the short- and medium-haul network, operating key domestic and U.S. routes.
    • 34x Boeing 737-800
    • 39x Boeing 737 MAX 8 (3 on order)
    • 22x Boeing 737 MAX 9 (4 on order)
  • Boeing 787-8 & 787-9 Dreamliner – Flagship aircraft for long-haul operations, providing service to Europe, Asia, and South America.
    • 8x Boeing 787-8

  • Embraer E190 – Used on regional and shorter international routes, operated by Aeroméxico Connect.
