Air Canada Expands Airbus A321XLR Network For Winter 2026/27

Air Canada has revealed further details of how it intends to deploy its growing fleet of Airbus A321XLR aircraft during the Northern Winter 2026/27 schedule, with the long-range narrowbody set to appear on an increasing number of domestic, transborder and transatlantic routes.

The latest schedule updates show the aircraft taking on a much broader role across the airline’s network, with services ranging from short domestic sectors to long-haul flights across the Atlantic and into the Caribbean.

More North American Routes

While the A321XLR has primarily been associated with Air Canada’s new European routes since entering service earlier this year, the aircraft will become a familiar sight on a variety of North American services this winter.

New or expanded routes include:

• Montreal – San Francisco becomes a daily A321XLR service from 15 January 2027.
• Toronto Pearson – Los Angeles will see the type introduced from 15 December 2026.
• Toronto Pearson – Calgary becomes a daily A321XLR route from 16 December.
• Montreal – Toronto Pearson receives two to three weekly A321XLR flights between 25 October and 7 January.
• Montreal – Miami gains a weekly A321XLR rotation over the Christmas period.
• Montreal – Ottawa also sees a weekly deployment during the festive season.

Meanwhile, the aircraft continues operating on the airline’s Montreal – Calgary route, giving Canadian passengers more opportunities to experience the newest member of Air Canada’s fleet.

The airline is also extending the aircraft’s reach into the Caribbean, with the A321XLR scheduled to operate a new Montreal – Bridgetown, Barbados service five times per week during December.

Changes Across The European Network

Air Canada is also refining how it uses the A321XLR on transatlantic services as deliveries continue.

One notable change sees the aircraft replace the Boeing 737 MAX 8 on the Halifax – London Heathrow route from 17 December, operating four flights per week. The Heathrow service had originally been planned to receive the A321XLR earlier in the season, before the introduction date was revised. Daily 737 MAX 8 operations are currently scheduled to resume at the end of March 2027.

Elsewhere, Montreal – Lisbon will receive four weekly flights rather than the previously planned five. Instead of all services being operated by the A321XLR, the revised schedule now sees three weekly A321XLR flights alongside one Airbus A330-300 service.

These changes illustrate how Air Canada continues to fine-tune deployment of the new aircraft as additional examples join the fleet and demand patterns become clearer.
