Airbus delivers first A319neo airline orders

by Matt Falcus

Airbus this week delivered the first two A319neo aircraft destined for airline customers.

To date the only deliveries of this, the shortest of the A320neo family, have been to private and VIP operators.

Now, however, two aircraft have been delivered to China Southern Airlines, and will enter service soon.

They are:

B-328A (10239)

B-328C (10288)

A319neo China Southern Airlines B-328C

Following customer acceptance tests, these two aircraft were transported from the Airbus plant at Hamburg Finkenwerder, to Guangzhou Baiyun International in China, via stops at Nursultan Nazarbayev International in Kazakhstan.

China Southern is not understood to have any further A319neo aircraft on order.

The only other passenger airlines known to have ordered the type so far are Air Côte d’Ivoire and Spirit Airlines.

With thousands of the larger A320neo and A321neo ordered, the A319neo has not proven as popular. But time will tell if airlines currently operating the A319ceo will order the neo variant as their fleets reach retirement age.
