Alaska Airlines has revealed its latest eye-catching special livery, this time celebrating Disney and Pixar’s upcoming Toy Story 5 movie on one of its Horizon Air regional jets.

The colourful aircraft was unveiled at Portland International Airport and joins a growing collection of Disney-themed aircraft operated by Alaska Airlines. For aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters, it provides another unique aircraft to seek out across the airline’s extensive network in the western United States.

Meet “To 45 And Beyond”

The special aircraft is an Embraer E175 operated by Horizon Air, carrying registration N659QX.

Named “To 45 and Beyond” – a play on Buzz Lightyear’s famous catchphrase – the aircraft also commemorates Horizon Air’s upcoming 45th anniversary. The regional carrier has been providing feeder services throughout the Pacific Northwest and western United States since 1981 and remains a key part of Alaska Airlines’ network.

The livery features many familiar characters from the Toy Story franchise, including Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, alongside several new characters due to appear in the fifth film. Floating clouds adorn the fuselage, while various Toy Story-inspired slogans appear around the aircraft. Even the winglets have been decorated, featuring characters Forky and Karen Beverly.

According to Horizon Air President and CEO Andy Schneider:

“Forty-five years of service is a meaningful milestone, and I couldn’t be prouder of our people who, each and every day, put their best foot forward to deliver the industry’s best and most caring travel experience.”

Alaska Airlines has become well known among aviation enthusiasts for its extensive collection of special liveries.

In addition to commemorative aircraft celebrating the airline’s heritage, sports teams and regional culture, the carrier has maintained a long-running partnership with Disney. The new Toy Story 5 aircraft joins a fleet that already includes Disneyland Resort, Star Wars and other Disney-inspired designs.

These aircraft have become popular targets for spotters, often generating excitement whenever they appear on new routes or at airports outside their usual operating areas.

The airline’s regional subsidiary Horizon Air has also developed a reputation for colourful liveries on its Embraer E175 fleet, continuing a tradition that dates back to the carrier’s former Bombardier Q400 operations. Enthusiasts regularly share sightings of these aircraft online, helping to create a dedicated following among aviation photographers and spotters.

The Aircraft Behind The Paint Scheme

While the livery may attract the attention, the aircraft itself is equally significant.

The Embraer E175 has become the backbone of Horizon Air’s fleet, replacing the airline’s former Bombardier Q400 turboprops. The type offers seating for around 76 passengers and operates hundreds of daily flights throughout Alaska Airlines’ regional network.

The aircraft’s size makes it ideal for thinner routes where larger Boeing 737s would be uneconomic, while still providing passengers with a comfortable jet experience.

For plane spotters, the E175 has become one of the most common regional jets in North America, with operators including Horizon Air, SkyWest Airlines, Republic Airways and Envoy Air.

A New Target For Plane Spotters

With Toy Story 5 due for release on June 19, 2026, the aircraft is expected to remain a popular attraction across Alaska Airlines’ network for some time.

Special liveries have always held a particular appeal for aviation enthusiasts, and Alaska Airlines continues to be one of the industry’s most enthusiastic supporters of unique aircraft designs.

If you’re spotting in the Pacific Northwest, keep an eye out for N659QX. Between its colourful Toy Story characters and Horizon Air’s anniversary markings, it is likely to become one of the most photographed regional jets in North America this year.
