AnimaWings – Romania’s New Airline

by Matt Falcus

A new charter airline based in Romania took a step closer to becoming a reality this week with the delivery of its first aircraft.

AnimaWings was set up in 2019 by a team to develop a new charter airline operating out of Romania’s ten main airports – namely Bucharest, Timisoara, Iasi, Cluj Napoca, Arad, Craiova, Targu Mures, Oradea, Sibiu and Baia Mare.

While no schedule has been announced, the airline’s website states:

The most frequented destination we fly to are Antalya and Bodrum in Turkey, Hurghada in Egipt, Corfu, Preveza and Zakynthos in Greece and the remote island of Tenerife.

These will be charter operations on behalf of holiday organisations, and is assuming worldwide vacation travel has resumed following the Covid-19 outbreak to allow flights to occur. It is anticipated routes will start this summer.

AnimaWings’ first aircraft is an Airbus A320, to be registered YR-AGA. It was formerly SX-DGI (cn 3162) with Aegean Airlines and has now been painted in the smart red-and-white colours of the new airline.
