The second prototype of the new, reinvented Ilyushin Il-114-300 turboprop has emerged in Russia as the aircraft undergoes testing.
This test aircraft wears the livery of United Aircraft Corporation, the organisation involved in the manufacturing and testing of the type.
It was reported recently that Red Wings will become the launch customer of the new Il-114
The Il-114 is not scheduled to receive type certification or entry into service until 2025 or even later. However, the Russian government had allocated funds for up to 100 of the aircraft to be built. This is part of a drive to reinvigorate Russia’s home-grown aircraft manufacturing industry since access to Western aircraft types and parts has been restricted due to sanctions imposed on the country since its invasion of Ukraine.

A History of the Ilyushin Il-114
The Il-114 first flew in 1990 and around 20 aircraft had been built, serving with airlines such as Uzbekistan Airways and Vyborg Airlines.
The regional turboprop airliner has a capacity for 60-68 passengers. It has a range of up to 2,000km and is targeted to replacing older Antonov An-24/26 types, as well as providing an alternative to the ATR 72 and Q400 turboprops.
Since 2016 there has been an effort to reinvent the aircraft, using more modern designs, improved engines and all-Russian parts.
The new Il-114-300 first flew in March this year.
