National Naval Aviation Museum – Pensacola, Florida
The world’s largest naval aviation museum, showcasing more than 150 aircraft from the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Highlights include a Blue Angels F/A-18, an A-4 Skyhawk, an F-14 Tomcat, and the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic. The museum is set on NAS Pensacola and offers free admission.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex – Titusville, Florida

Although primarily a space museum, KSC also explores the story of flight leading into space. Visitors can see the Space Shuttle Atlantis, Saturn V rockets, Apollo capsules, and historic spacecraft. Tours of the launch facilities make this a bucket-list destination.

Delta Flight Museum – Atlanta, Georgia
Located next to Delta’s headquarters at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, this museum tells the story of one of the world’s biggest airlines. Exhibits include The Spirit of Delta 767-200, the first production Boeing 747-400, vintage DC-3s, and an interactive 737 flight simulator.

Lone Star Flight Museum – Houston, Texas

Based at Ellington Field, this museum focuses on flyable warbirds and Texas aviation history. The collection includes a B-25 Mitchell, P-47 Thunderbolt, F-4 Phantom II, 707 (pictured) and DC-3. Many aircraft are still flown during airshows and special events.

Frontiers of Flight Museum – Dallas, Texas

Located at Dallas Love Field, this museum highlights both military and civil aviation. Exhibits include the Apollo 7 command module, Southwest Airlines’ first 737, and a broad collection of U.S. Air Force and Navy jets.

American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum – Fort Worth, Texas

Space Center Houston – Houston, Texas

The official visitor center for NASA’s Johnson Space Center. Highlights include the Space Shuttle replica Independence mounted on a Boeing 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, Mercury and Gemini capsules, and astronaut training exhibits. Tram tours take you inside NASA’s working facilities.

Southern Museum of Flight – Birmingham, Alabama
A hidden gem showcasing civil and military aircraft, helicopters, and dioramas. The museum includes a Vietnam War helicopter exhibit and a Boeing 707 nose section once used by Pan Am for crew training.
