United Airlines is to return to New York JFK airport for the first time in five years, giving it access to all three airports in the region.

The airline will begin flights from JFK to both Los Angeles International (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) on February 1, 2021 using Boeing 767-300ER aircraft.

The airline left JFK in 2015, chosing to focus on its hub operation at Newark Liberty airport and its regional operations out of La Guardia.

The airline will use Terminal 7 when it returns to JFK.

“I have been waiting a long time to say this — United Airlines is back at JFK,” United CEO Scott Kirby said in a press release. “Come early next year, we will be serving all three major New York City area airports with a best-in-class product to provide our customers unmatched transcontinental service from New York City and the west coast.”
