If you’re heading to Dallas Fort Worth, the Grand Hyatt hotel at DFW is a great option for plane spotters.
John Millar stayed there recently and provided this review of what the hotel and views are like.
About the Grand Hyatt DFW
The Grand Hyatt DFW is located within Terminal D at the airport (but not airside), and so is very central for those taking flights and visiting the airport for spotting.
For those travelling, it is only a short walk to the check-in areas and TSA security. However, rooms are soundproofed and comfortable. What’s more, they offer great views!
John says: “I booked a room with a runway view and was allocated Room 714. The room was large and adequately appointed with all the usual amenities as well as room service being available.”7
The hotel offers free internet access, free parking, vehicle charging, restaurant and bar, room service, fitness center, golf, digital check-in, laundry and concierge among other amenities.
What Are the Views Like?

John says: “The runway view rooms afford a clear unobstructed view over Runways 18/36. They also overlook some of the Cargo area located to the west of the airport. Runway 18/31 can be seen, but is too far away to read off numbers for which Fightradar24 or similar would be required, or take pictures.”

The hotel also offers a rooftop pool area with good views. John says:
“The Rooftop swimming pool area has 24 hour access and gives views over the same area as the bedrooms do.”
He adds: “Taking photographs there is through a glass screen which is quite high, as I am 6’1 and could not take photos over it until the aircraft were in the air after taking off. There is a wide enough gap at the end of the screen which
allows clear images to be taken.”
