Vilnius Airport Opens New Viewing Area

by Matt Falcus

Vilnius Airport in Lithuania has opened a brand new viewing area for plane spotters to enjoy.

Open 24 hours a day, it is free to use and gives you opportunities for logging and photography.

The site consists of two parts: an underground and an elevated part specially adapted for the needs of photographers; yet, it is also good for simply watching the aircrafts. A shelter and benches have been set up in the site, and next to it is a car parking lot. Next year, a children’s playground will also be erected by Vilnius City Municipality.

The viewing area is located alongside the main runway and parallel taxiway at Vilnius, to the south of the passenger terminal.

Location

From the terminal, drive (2 minutes) or walk (15 minutes) south along RodÅ«nios kl. You’ll eventually see the fence line. The viewing area is in Salininkai Gardens, and there is parking available.

How to arrive using public transport?

Please use bus No. 4 Stotis-RodÅ«nios kelias-Kirtimai. The closest bus stop to the planespotting site is “RodÅ«nios sodų” from which the site can be reached by foot.
