Austrian Airlines to Introduce the 787 Next Year

by Matt Falcus

Austrian Airlines will introduce the Boeing 787 Dreamliner into its long-haul fleet next year, the airline has announced.

A fleet of ten examples will join Austrian between early 2024 and the end of 2028.

The aircraft will modernise the airline’s long-haul fleet, with the latest technology and efficiencies, and ultimately replace its current fleet of Boeing 767-300ER and 777-200ER aircraft.

“The ‘Dreamliner’ is living up to its name. We are happy that our guests will be able to enjoy the new travel comfort as of the expected maiden flight next summer”, says CCO Michael Trestl.

The aircraft will be the 787-9 variant, and will be taken from an existing order held by Lufthansa Group, the parent of Austrian Airlines.
