Saudia has confirmed the rumours that it will reintroduce a variant on its classic 1980s livery as its new branding for today.
Various new aircraft have been spotted coming out of the factories at Airbus and Boeing lately wearing what had been assumed was a retro scheme to mark the airline’s past, like the Boeing 777-300 that is already flying in the scheme to mark its 75th anniversary.
However, in a big reveal on 30th September, Saudia confirmed that its new branding and aircraft livery is in fact this reimagining of the 1980s scheme. All future deliveries will be in the livery, and the existing fleet will gradually be repainted.
According to the press release, “This new identity is in line with a wider strategic digital transformation plan aimed at strengthening the airline’s support for the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to bring the world to Saudi Arabia.”
New LiveryThe new brand color identity, comprised of green, blue, and sand, represent Saudia’s aim to expand its fleet and destinations, connecting the world to Saudi Arabia, emphasizing the Kingdom’s authenticity and deep-rooted values.
As well as Boeing 777 HZ-AK28 which wears the 75th anniversary version of the livery, two new aircraft have so far been delivered. These are Boeing 787-10 HZ-AR32 and Airbus A321neo HZ-ASAC.
The new scheme is not identical to the 1980s livery, as can be seen in these comparison shots.
It incorporates a revised tail design, and brighter shades of green and blue. The cheatline is also seen underneath the windows, rather than through them.

Shame Saudia don’t have thei747-400s anymore, this old better looking livery would have looked great on them.
