Air India Express Reveals New Livery

by Matt Falcus

Air India Express is the latest part of the Air India group to reveal its new branding and aircraft livery.

You may remember that Air India revealed its new livery recently, and its aircraft are slowly appearing in the new scheme.

Now, the low-cost subsidiary Air India Express has revealed the first aircraft to wear its own new livery, which is loosely based on that of Air India.

The first aircraft to wear Air India Express’s new livery is Boeing 737 MAX VT-BXA, which was delivered last month devoid of full markings.

Pictures seen on social media also reveal Airbus A320 VT-ATD, which has been flying for AirAsia India / AIX Connect, is also wearing the new livery.

The new scheme features smaller Air India titles in red, with large ‘Express’ titles in orange. The engines and underbelly are also orange, and the tail features an orange and blue motif, with a special design also incorporated which will reportedly be unique to each aircraft.

The livery of the first 737 MAX was inspired by the Bandhani textile design, often seen in wedding dresses in India.

The new livery is timed to coincide with the merger of Air India Express and AIX Connect (previously AirAsia India) under the same banner. The Airbus A320 fleet of AIX will be rebranded in this new livery.
