ANA All Nippon Airways is to take delivery of two Airbus A380s which will be operated on the popular Tokyo to Honolulu route.

The airline has revealed that one of the aircraft will feature in a special turtle scheme, named “Flying Honu”

As you can see from the pictures here, this will be one of the largest special colour schemes to take to the skies, and something very special for the photographers to look out for.

It will also look great in the Hawaiian sun!

ANA is famous for these special schemes, having recently painted numerous aircraft in Star Wars-inspired liveries, and in the past coloured aircraft in Pokemon schemes.

The aircraft’s final design was selected from among 2,197 submissions from around the world. Known as “Honu” in the Hawaiian language, the green sea turtle is considered a sacred creature, and is widely loved by the people of Hawaii. ANA selected “FLYING HONU” as the nickname to call the special edition aircraft, with the hopes to pass on some of the happiness and luck to its passengers to Hawaii.

All Nippon’s A380 aircraft will enter service in Spring 2019.
