Delta Airlines’ CEO has announced that the airline will receive its first “handful” of new Bombardier CSeries aircraft this year.

The airline has 75 of the 110-seat CS100 aircraft on order to enter service into its short-haul network, replacing older types like the McDonnell Douglas MD-88 and MD-90.

CEO Ed Bastian said “Our plan is to take the first CSeries by the end of the year and probably induct it into the service at the start of 2019,”

Initially the airline had hoped to be receiving its first CSeries aircraft in Spring 2018, but lengthy arguments over import taxes delayed the deliveries.
