Farnborough Air Show 2020 Cancelled

Another victim of the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak is the Farnborough Air Show.

This important biennial event held at Farnborough Airport in the UK is a place where a lot of business takes place in the aviation industry. Often you’ll hear of large airline and military orders, and it’s a great place to see the latest aircraft on display.

As well as the trade show, Farnborough Air Show also has public days.

Sadly the decision has been made to cancel this year’s show, which would have been held in July.

The air show organisers said:

We understand this news will be an incredible disappointment to all across the international aerospace industry, not to mention our important exhibitors, suppliers and visitors. We at Farnborough International share your disappointment that we are unable to present the Airshow as planned , but rest assured, we are determined to continue to work together and will ensure  the Farnborough International Airshow  returns in 2022 better than ever.

This will undoubtedly add to the major effect coronavirus is having on the aviation industry, from airlines being grounded, closing down, and airports becoming ghost towns. It won’t help manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus who rely on shows like this to boost their order books.

I was also hoping to attend Farnborough Air Show this year to bring you the latest aviation news direct from the source, and sadly this will not happen.

The military Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) held at at similar time to Farnborough has also been cancelled.
