All About the New Dan Air

by Matt Falcus

Dan-Air London was a famous British airline known for its classic aircraft fleet and holiday flights across Europe.

However, a new Dan Air has emerged and it’s starting to spread its wings over a series of new routes.

The new airline is actually from Romania and was founded in 2017 as Just Us Air.

In 2021 it rebranded as Dan Air, but only began flying under this guise in June 2023.

Based initially at Bucharest’s Henri Coandă International and Brasov airports, it has since relocated to a new base at Bacau from where it is setting its sights on expanding in Europe and the Middle East.

Dan Air is not specifically a low-cost airline, with full onboard service and baggage included, as well as a Business Class cabin. Prices are competitive with many low-cost carriers flying to Romania, however.

Where Does Dan Air Fly?

Dan Air at present has a route network covering ten destinations from Bacau. These are:

  • Barcelona
  • Bergamo
  • Bologna
  • Brussels
  • Catania
  • Dublin
  • Liverpool
  • London Luton
  • Madrid Barajas
  • Malaga
  • Paris Charles de Gaulle
  • Rome Fiumicino
  • Turin
  • Valencia

Dan Air Fleet

Starting initially with Airbus A321 equipment, Dan Air today flies a fleet of secondhand Airbus A319 and A320 types.

The fleet is:

  • YR-URS (3614), Airbus A319-100
  • YR-DSE (2479), Airbus A320-200
  • YR-JUL (3683), Airbus A320-200
  • YR-RAM (3782), Airbus A320-200

Those who remember the original Dan-Air may find it amusing to witness the name once again serving many of the same airports in Europe. However, this new airline is a serious carrier with bold ambitions to grow as an Eastern European competitor to established rivals.
