Boeing 737-100 and -200 Book Out Now!

by admin

Thank you to everyone who pre-ordered our new Boeing 737-100 and -200 book, and especially to Dawn, who was the winner of the special Lufthansa 737 scale model prize draw.

The book is now on general release and available from all good retailers. You can order a copy direct from us here: https://destinworld.com/product/boeing-737-book/

This brand new release includes hundreds of rare and unseen photographs of the early life of the Boeing 737, and the many airlines around the world which flew it.

I’ve had a long fascination with the early Boeing 737s, probably because most of my early memories of flying in the 1980s were on this type – usually on holiday airlines like Britannia and Dan-Air London flying to the sun.

The result of this fascination has been a collection of photographs of 737-100s and -200s throughout its life, from first flights in 1967, to the few remaining present-day operators in Canada and Africa.

The Book

Introducing the captivating tale of the Boeing 737-100 and -200!

Delve into the fascinating journey of this iconic aircraft, a gamble that eventually became a triumph for Boeing, despite competition from British Aircraft Corporation and Douglas with their 1-11 and DC-9 jets.

Designed to cater to airlines operating shorter routes with fewer passengers, the 737 faced its fair share of challenges. However, with the backing of industry giants like Lufthansa and United Airlines, Boeing’s confidence soared, and the rest is history.

Immerse yourself in the captivating narrative that showcases the ingenuity behind this aviation legend.

Through the pages of this book you’ll learn the history of the early 737, and delve into the photographic archive showing many of the airlines that have operated it, categorised by region.

See the African national carriers, US legacy and low-cost airlines, UK leisure airlines, and Asian carriers through the ages. It’s a really nice collection of images through the past 50 years.

Had my first 737-200 flight in 1977 with Lufthansa, then NAC/AIR NZ and ANSETT AUSTRALIA and overall 12 flights on the 200 series. Never made the 100 series as they were not many around.
Photographed the 3 ANSETT NZ 737-130s at Marana in 1993 before they were scrapped.
