Hi Matt, just recently the AUS CAA have introduced the number 8 followed by two letters for new aircraft, somewhat bewildering to be honest. The new VIRGIN 737-8MAX s will be VH-8IA-8IZ and recently imported second hand Q400s and 737-800s, have also had this new rego sequence. Very strange indeed !
Thanks for clarifying Merv!
