Where Will the Malaysia Airlines 737 MAX Fly?

Malaysia Airlines is about to take delivery of their first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

This MAX 8 variant, with registration 9M-MVA, is the first of 25 that the airline has on order, with deliveries planned over the next 3 years.

Malaysia Airlines also has ten 737 MAX 10 aircraft on order.

 

Where Will They Fly?

Malaysia Airlines plans to initially supplement its large Boeing 737-800 fleet with its new MAX aircraft. Eventually these will replace some of the older aircraft.

According to Aeroroutes, from October Malaysia Airlines plans to initially fly its 737 MAX aircraft on the following domestic services:

  • Kuala Lumpur – Alor Setar (One-time flight on 18DEC23)
  • Kuala Lumpur – Kota Kinabalu
  • Kuala Lumpur – Kuching
  • Kuala Lumpur – Miri
  • Kuala Lumpur – Penang

 

From October and into 2024, as more 737 MAX aircraft are delivered, Malaysia Airlines will begin serving international destinations from Kuala Lumpur, including:

  • Denpasar Bali
  • Jakarta
  • Kathmandu
  • Manila
  • Phuket
