American Airlines Adds New Piedmont and PSA Retro Liveries

by Matt Falcus

American Airlines this week unveiled two new retro livery aircraft, which have now entered service.

Both aircraft are Airbus A321-200s and were painted at Amarillo in the first two weeks of September, before re-entering service out of Dallas Fort Worth.

The aircraft depict two of the airlines that make up the heritage of American Airlines, having been merged into the carrier in the past. They are PSA Airlines and Piedmont Airlines.

The PSA aircraft is N581UW.

The Piedmont aircraft is N582UW.

Both PSA and Piedmont were previously represented on Airbus A319 aircraft operated by American. However, these were both repainted into the standard American Airlines livery earlier this year.

Other aircraft in the fleet are painted in retro liveries depicting AirCal, Reno Air, TWA, US Airways, America West and Allegheny. There are also retro polished metal and AstroJet American Airlines livery aircraft.
