Royal Jordanian’s First Embraer E2 and Revised Livery

by Matt Falcus

Royal Jordanian Airlines has taken delivery of the first two Embraer E195-E2 aircraft from an order for eight aircraft placed last year.

The aircraft feature an updated livery for the airline, and were welcomed at a ceremony in Amman after flying from São José dos Campos on Monday.

The aircraft, with registrations JY-REA and JY-REB, are leased from Azorra, a leasing and finance company based in Florida, Washington State, Ireland and France.

Samer Majali, Vice Chairman/CEO of Royal Jordanian Airlines, says: “We’re looking forward to becoming the first E2 operator in the Middle East, supported by our trusted partners at Azorra. The E2 family of aircraft will support our strategic aims, complementing our larger narrow body aircraft by matching capacity to demand, reducing operating costs and carbon emissions, while delivering a significant upgrade to passenger experience and comfort; underlining our status as the preferred airline in the region.”

New Livery

Royal Jordanian has used the opportunity of taking delivery of their new Embraer E2 aircraft to introduce an updated livery marking the airline’s 60th anniversary.

This sees the regal dark grey scheme increased to cover more of the fuselage, with the bands of red and gold now curving underneath rather than running in straight cheatlines.

The tail design is also slightly different, with an updated crown logo and the removal of the dark triangles on its rear.

Time will tell whether the airline plans to repaint its entire fleet in this new scheme, or whether it’s reserved for the Embraer E2 fleet.
