Where Are All the A380s Located?

There’s no doubting that Covid-19 has had a significant impact on large airliners like the Airbus A380 and Boeing 747.

In light of huge reduction in demand from passengers, many of the operators of these types have chosen to ground or retire their fleets, choosing to focus on smaller, more efficient types that are cheaper to run with fewer passengers on board.

Most of these aircraft are not very old and had a long life left in them, but the second-hand market is very limited thanks to their size, costs and complex nature.

Airlines like Lufthansa and Qatar Airways have said the A380 is over and has no future with them. And indeed Airbus has now finished building the type, with the last example going to Emirates this year.

Thankfully some airlines do see a future for the type, albeit in smaller numbers and maybe not long into the future.
