First Flight of the Boeing 777X

by Matt Falcus

Boeing’s new 777X widebody airliner today took its first flight.

The aircraft is an upgrade on the previous 777 designs (one of the best selling long-haul airliners of all time), adding incredible efficiency over previous models.

It will also be the largest twin-jet airliner, and features many of the technologies introduced on the 787 Dreamliner.

Here’s the takeoff video:

The first flight of the prototype 777X (N779XW) took place from Everett Paine Field near Seattle on 24 January 2020.

Airlines already committed to orders for the 777X include Etihad, Lufthansa, All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Qatar Airways, British Airways and Singapore Airlines.
